THE GREAT MOUSE EAR SEARCH: Crochet Minnie Mouse Ear hat by Hippocorn Design

I recently started THE GREAT MOUSE EAR SEARCH because one thing all die hard Disney fans have in common, we love the Mouse Ears!!!    You can never get enough!  We are always looking for the newest and most original design.    The response to this search has been AMAZING!   So many people have been excited to see what comes of it and so many artists have wanted to participate!

The first Ears in the search I am bringing to you are very different!   Not the traditional headband style so many are used to!  Kacie VandenHull of Hippocorn Design sent me this ADORABLE crocheted Minnie Mouse Ear hat she makes!
As soon as I got it, I fell in love!    It is ADORABLE!!!!!   At first it was a little tight, but because of how well she makes them, they need to be stretched out a little at first.   Even with it being crocheted, the ears stand up perfectly!    I can not wait until it gets cooler here to wear this more!   It will be perfect at Christmas time when I start going to Disney to view and blog about all the Christmas decorations everywhere!   This hat feels so warm and cozy it is not even funny!

With Christmas coming up, this is definitely a perfect gift for any Disney fan!   And even better, it supports small business while rocking your Disney style!!!!  Oh and she can do Mickey Ears too just in case you wanted one for that special man/boy in your life!    They both come in sizes from newborn to adult, prices ranging in $5.99-$15.99 depending on the size, which is an extremely great price!!!

Kacie not only makes these amazing Mouse Ear Hats, but she is a pretty cool person too! Here is a little bit more about Kacie;

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO MAKE THESE ADORABLE MOUSE EAR HATS?
I originally designed it for my Jayden, my sister Diana's son. He is the only nephew I have so I wanted to make him something special. He was celebrating his first birthday and the theme was Mickey Mouse so naturally a hat would be a cute gift. So I started to work on how to create it. Later I added a bow for the mini version for my friend Amber's little girl. The rest is history and I have been working on improving the design ever since.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU COME UP WITH NEW DESIGNS?
I work on new designs as much as I can. Seeing how the holidays are coming I plan on working on a few designs that I have been asked to create. I also want to not only do the regular hats but also ones that will have earflaps and maybe the braids hanging from it but we will just have to see how it works out.

ANY NEW DISNEY DESIGNS IN THE MAKING?
I have been playing with a few character hats. The current one is a Stitch inspired one. It just takes a little longer then the mouse ear hats because it has some extra details to it. I hope to work on other character hats. Maybe colors inspired by or symbols related to the characters.

I SEE YOU ALSO MAKE ADORABLE DISNEY INSPIRED BOWS, WHAT GOT YOU INSPIRED TO MAKE THOSE?
My friend Serena did. We were making homemade bows and she suggested I use one of my bottle caps as a center. Since then I changed it up and reworked the bow design to be similar to the artwork on the bottle cap.
Lillie was SO excited to get this Cheshire Cat bow!!!

WHAT ARE ALL THE WAYS PEOPLE USE YOUR BOTTLE CAP BUTTONS?
Most if them use them to show their love for Disney and their favorite character. Some of them have even used them on their lanyards when they go to Disney.

WHICH IS YOUR MOST POPULAR ITEM?
The most popular would be the mouse ears. Everyone loves them. Mainly because I offer them in not only kid sizes but adult sizes as well. Not too many people think of the adults but the truth is we love to wear them and show out Disney love.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO VISIT DISNEY?
I have gone to Typhoon Lagoon my senior year (2008) with my friend Amber but since then I have not. I am hoping to visit Disney's Magic Kingdom. It really is kind of a dream of mine to visit there. I may not be a kid in looks but I a defiantly a kid at heart.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE DISNEY MEMORY?
My favorite Disney related memory would have to be the road trips my friend Amber and I used to take. We would put in Disney music and just sing our hearts out down the road. That's how I know the words to so many Disney classic songs.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DISNEY CHARACTER AND WHY?
My favorite Disney character is Stitch from Disney's Lilo and Stitch. I know you were thinking maybe a princess would be my favorite but no. I love the little blue alien. He's my favorite because he goes through such a great change. He is an alien that wants to destroy the world but ends up finding his true family and learning that Ohana means family and family never gets left behind or forgotten.
