Disney Wedding Wednesday featuring our Pixie Dust Required Wedding! Episode 3: THE GUEST BOOK, DIY!

So today I am 80 days away from planning my Disney themed wedding at House of Blues.  Between now and the wedding, we have Christmas, my daughter's 13th birthday, and a move!  So needless to say, the panic is TRULY kicking in at this point!   I am in a rush to get as much done as possible and I have an urge to cover every detail meticulously.   I recently made a checklist, it was 3 pages long!   Not even kidding, LOL.  However, in this episode, I wanted to share with you something I got to check off of that list!   MY GUESTBOOK!

We knew we did not want to do a traditional guestbook that got stored away on some shelf.   We really wanted something that not only we could display in our home, but that showcased us becoming a new blended family.  We often quote the line from Lilo & Stitch. "Ohana Means Family, and Family Means NOBODY Gets Left Behind." so I wanted to incorporate that some how.  I searched the internet and looked all over Etsy, but I just could not find something that stood out for us.  I loved the idea of the guest canvases, but those were way out of our budget.  So somehow, my creativity kicked in and I decided to make it myself.

I started showing pictures and trying to describe what was in my head to my Aunt Linda (who has a silhouette machine she lets me use and is super creative and crafty herself).   She couldn't quite picture what I could, but we made a good team....

I went to Hobby Lobby and got a canvas in the size I wanted when they went 50% off (they often do at both there and Michaels, but if you cant wait, get a coupon from either of their websites!).  I started off trying to paint the canvas red with a brush, but that was looking SUPER streaky!!!  Like, it was REALLY bad y'all!   So then we got some high gloss spray paint and that did the trick perfect!!!!

Next, we hung it up in the spot we knew we would want it to go after the wedding.  This let us know we loved the size and could make sure the light hit the gloss and showed us if we had any remaining streaky spots.... (ignore the wall color, its changing very soon!)
Next, I went to my Aunt Linda's and we got a picture of the Lilo print I wanted and the Disney font and she uploaded them into her Silhouette machine.  We measured out where we wanted the words and did those first.  Then I took a ruler and measured how big I was picturing the leaves and printed those out and applied them.   I ended up using a blow dryer to seal down any seams and lock all of the decals into place.
I am ABSOLUTELY in love with this!!!   Each leaf gives the space for two people to sign it with a sharpie!!  I can not wait to have all my friends family sign this at the wedding!

Seth's Magical Moment with a Dapper Dan

This past Saturday (11/19/16) we took our kids to Disney to check out some of the new holiday stuff happening at the different parks.  We got to the Magic Kingdom just as they were getting ready to do the Flag Retreat.  We had never done that before, so we of course had to stay and watch it!

I have always been a big fan of the Dapper Dan's, so I was excited to see them there in their Christmas attire.  I pointed that out to all the kids and told them how much I loved listening to them sing as a kid and shared some memories.

Seth is one of my kids who is constantly mesmerized at Disney and literally sees the Disney magic in EVERY. SINGLE. THING. there.  It is pretty magical.  Seth is currently 10 years old and in the 4th grade.  This is a kid of many talents, but his passion is to dance!  He is currently taking 5 dance classes (Hip Hop/Breakdancing, Acro, Musical Theater, Jazz, and Tap).   His life goals are to get a dance scholarship to University of Florida and work at Disney as a dancer (yes, he came up with that all on his own, yes, I am amazed and proud!).  Being a male who dances, he has had his challenges.   He has had people make fun of him and degrade him because he loves to dance so much.  Because of this, every chance I get, I love giving him the opportunities to see, meet, and talk to other dancers.   When we go to Disney, he gets beyond excited to see other guys there dancing!  (The lost boys in the parade and Prince Naveen in the new Mickey's Friendship Faire show have been some of his favorites).

While we were waiting for the Flag Retreat to begin, Seth noticed that the Dapper Dans had on tap shoes.   He moved closer as soon as he noticed this.  We asked one of the other cast members, and learned that they do not dance in the Flag Retreat ceremony, but that didn't stop Seth from being mesmerized.  One of them, was constantly tapping and sliding his shoes which made Seth smile so big.  He looked over and noticed Seth and Seth got the chance to talk to him.  He told the Dapper Dan how old he was and about all the dance classes he takes and his goals.  This man went above and beyond in that moment!!!   He cheered Seth on and told him how amazing it was and how bright his future would be as a male who dances if he stuck to it.   This guy had NO IDEA the major struggles this child has went through or the countless tears shed over his passion.  Yet, he knew EXACTLY what to say!  He encouraged Seth to stick with it no matter how hard it seemed.  He encouraged Seth in a way I never will be able to.  Here was this guy, doing one of the very things Seth truly wants to do when he grows up guiding him along.   Friends, as a mom, I was so touched I wanted to cry.  The magic of the moment could be seen in my child's eyes that just beamed and sparkled.  Days later Seth STILL is talking about it.  I truly believe that moment will stand out the rest of his life.

THAT IS WHAT DISNEY MAGIC IS ALL ABOUT!!!!

If any of you happen to know this Dapper Dan, please pass this story on to him and tell him we are beyond thankful for taking a couple minutes and making such an impact on his life!

Meet Mickey Mouse at Town Square Theater in the Magic Kingdom

We typically do not stand in line to meet a lot of character's when we go to Disney unless it is one of our absolute favorite's and it means a lot to the kids.   We try to get character time in by eating our meals at Character Meal locations on the dining plan.  This little tip saves us a lot of park time!   We always do one meal with Mickey Mouse because, well, who does not just love Mickey and feel completely in awe?  I mean, after all, it all started with HIM!!!   Because we do a meal with him, we never ever wait in line to meet him.   But this last trip, we had to make a special exception!

When you go to the Magic Kingdom, you can meet Mickey Mouse at the Town Square Theater (it is right after enter the park on the right hand side).  This particular meet and greet is extra magical!!!!   His mouth and eyes move and he actually interacts with you!

All 6 of us were in complete awe!   Chloe & Seth, our youngest, truly felt like Mickey Mouse came to life!   THAT my friends, that is what bringing the Disney Magic is!!!!  The look on their faces was priceless!

The set and his costume is made to look like he is doing his very own magic show!   That was pretty special and cool as well!

Here you can see back to back pictures where his mouth actually opens and he talks to you!   Each encounter with him is custom to you!

Even Mickey Mouse gets caught taking pictures with his eyes closed sometimes!  LOL

I loved that he took the time to pose and interact with each child and then with us!

And of course, LOTS of hugs!!!!   Who doesn't feel all filled up to the brim with happiness when they get a hug from Mickey Mouse??

This overall, was our favorite Character Meet & Greet Experience!!
I HIGHLY recommend you add it to your list on your next trip!

THE GREAT MOUSE EAR SEARCH: Timbysia Creations

One thing all true Disney Fanatics can never get enough of is Mouse Ears!  We would wear them every day, every where if we could get away with it!    Because of that, I started THE GREAT MOUSE EAR SEARCH to help bring you some of the best Mouse Ear Designers out there!  Well, I will always continue that search, but I have to tell you something, I think I found one of MY FAVORITE'S so far!!!!

People in my family tend to like some of the less popular Disney characters (because we are awesome like that!).  I was on the hunt for some Lion King ears when I stumbled upon Timbysia Creation's Etsy Page.  Once I contacted Timberline from there to inquire about this, I instantly fell in love with her!   She is so passionate and driven about designing her ears!   She immediately began working on customizing a pair for Lillie!

When she sent me the sketch and fabric swatches, I was literally blown away!  Her designs were by far the most original and different I had seen!   Her attention to detail is truly outstanding!!!!

I wish I had a picture of Lillie's face when she received these in the mail!   You can see by these pictures, they are truly her favorite pair and the pair she always has to wear on any Disney trip!

I know we will most definitely be ordering more ears from her in the future!   Who knows, I may just need to get her to design some bridal ears for me!!!!

Timberlina is a real joy to do business with!
Make sure you visit her etsy page at
You can also find her on Facebook by clicking HERE

HOW DID YOU GET INTO MAKING MOUSE EARS?
When I first started making mouse ears, I had just bought my first annual pass for Disneyland and I wanted awesome Baymax ears to wear because I fell in love with him and his personality. At first I was just going to buy a pair at Disney but sadly mouse ears for Baymax weren't designed. At that time I didn't know what etsy was (Lol now all the stuff I buy is from etsy or other handmade shops) so I didn't even think to look for a pair that somebody had made. I had remember seeing a DIY floral mouse ears on Pinterest and thought if it can be done with flowers I could make a baymax one :). My first ever paired made was my Baymax ears which were made from felt, paint, and a some regular glue. I've definitely have learn a lot since that pair. It was my family and some of my college friends who pushed me to start making more and eventually I learned how to do some basic sewing through YouTube and what I remember my grandma trying to teach me which lead to the ears today. My stepmom was the one who really pushed me to open up the shop and now she works with me to help with the business aspects of the shop. It's crazy how it all started cause of my love of Baymax.

DO YOU HAND MAKE EVERYTHING?
Most of the items on our ears, including some of the charms, are handmade. We do everything from sewing the fabric to making clay pieces and even covering the headbands. We cover the headbands instead of buying already finished ones in order for everyone to be able to pick the headband they want for their ears and have less restrictions about the choices for them.
Some of our mouse ears have already made charm pieces such as the enchanted rose charm on our Beauty and the Beast Ears. However lately I have been working more with polymer clay in order to create charms for the ears. It's one of my favorite parts of making ears but I'm still in the learning process with sculpting so some mouse ears still have jewelry charms. Even all of the painting is hand painted and we are hoping to eventually be able to create some of our fabric to have something even extra special.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST POPULAR SELLING ITEM?
Our most popular design would most likely me out BB-8 or Rey inspired mouse ears, excluding custom orders. I love making the BB-8 ones so much because Star Wars is one of my favorite Fandoms and is something I get to share with my dad. So it makes me so excited and happy that they were so well-perceived.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ITEM TO MAKE AND WHY?
I love to make custom ears the most. Custom orders always bring new challenges and a creative directions and they allow me to work more closely with the costumer (which we usually refer to as Mouse Ear Lover or a MEL lol). I work close with them to bring their ideas and favorite characters to life and it's just amazing to see how excited they are when they receive the final product. I especially love custom order (or mouse ears in general) that take a less traditional approach such as Harry Potter or Hobbit Mouse Ears because I truly believe mouse ears are a perfect way for anyone to show off their favorite fandom or character no matter its origin.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU COME UP WITH NEW DESIGNS?
I think up new ideas everyday :). I don't always get to execute all my new designs due to time and my work schedule but we try to release at least a few new designs each month so there is always something new to look forward to.

DO YOU HAVE ANY FUN OR TOUCHING CUSTOMER STORIES YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH US?
The funniest story I have so far was when I got to transform my Rey Mouse Ears design into a birthday special for an amazing girl. Her family wanted to surprise her and her siblings to a trip to Disneyworld and the Rey ears were the way they shared the surprise with her :). Even better the whole family is absolutely in love with the Star Wars franchise so to be apart of that family's passion and their celebration was amazing.
The mom even sent me a video of the special birthday surprise. The kids were told they were going to the dentist and while in the car they put clues throughout the car with hints about the special trip and surprise ears. That last hint lead to the bow containing the Rey Ears which was used to reveal that they were going to Disneyworld for her birthday. It was so cute and amazing to watch and I'm so happy the family including me in their special moment.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU GET TO GO TO DISNEY?
I'm currently an annual pass holder for Disneyland, CA so I try to go every time I can. Usually I go at least 3 times a week.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU HAVE TO DO EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU VISIT DISNEY?
Dole whips and the Sleeping Beauty Castle walk-through are a must for every Disney trip for me. I absolutely love dole whips and they are especially perfect during the summer. The Sleeping Beauty Castle Walk-Through is so gorgeous and is most of the time overlooked. It features the beautiful artwork of the classic film and is a fun environment for environment. It's like your are literally walking through the story of Aurora.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DISNEY MEMORY EVER?
Since I was a little girl I have had the honor to perform at Disneyland a few times as a guest performer with a cheerleading group. In high school I was able to become an instructor for this same group and share Disney Magic with all the young girls (age range 5-15) from our group. It is so magical to see their faces light up when they step out from backstage Disney on to Main Street U.S.A. What's even better is the girls get to enjoy Disneyland throughout the day and generally they would try to find the instructors in the park to pull them along on to rides. It's so amazing to be apart of those moments.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE DISNEY CHARACTER AND WHY?
I think this is the hardest question of them lol. I would have to say Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet is my favorite character of all. Jim makes so many character developments during this beautifully drawn film that it's hard not to feel drawn to this character and wish the best for him. He is adventurous, courageous, and is loyal and devoted to his single mother who works hard to provide for them. As well as he is a little rebellious lol. I feel like I can relate to this character and that I strive to be adventurous and make something of myself to make my family proud.
