Disney Wedding Wednesday starring Alex & Amanda LoCicero!

I am so glad to bring you another Disney Wedding Wednesday post. This post makes me particularly happy! I know many people who dream of having a wedding at Disney, but can not due to financial reasons, logistics, size of wedding party and/or guests, as well as so many other reasons. Many brides plan what they call a Disney Home Wedding which is where they do a wedding with Disney touches somewhere other than the Disney Resorts.

I met this week's bride Amanda through a Disney Facebook group for brides. Her and her husband are such delightful people and what a beautiful wedding they had! She decided on a Disney Home wedding. I hope you love learning more about her and Alex and enjoy looking at all of the gorgeous details they included!

HOW DID YOU TWO MEET? We met through mutual friends he went to high school with and I went to college with.

TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR LOVE STORY. It all happened very quickly. Our first date we talked the entire night and ended up closing down the restaurants. We were talking about vacations coming up and I had said "I would rather go to Disney World over Vegas any day! I had no idea he was such a huge Disney fan like me and it just came out. It made us click. By our second date we were talking about all the serious topics; politics, religion, raising children. We both knew this was the real deal. Like a true gentleman he formally asked me to be his girlfriend after a week. Two weeks later we were saying I love you. I never understood the whole "when you know you know" but it's so true! In a short time we had a lot of major life events happen with a surgery and two job changes. We knew we could handle anything together. After 6 months together we were engaged. We had a year and a half engagement and here we are!

TELL ME ABOUT THE PROPOSAL. Well let me tell you a tale... It is a tale as old as time. On October 22, 2013 Alex and Amanda boarded a flight to the most magical place on Earth. They had been planning their Disney World trip for five months and could not wait for a great adventure together. However, Amanda did not know of all the adventures Alex had planned.
As they entered the Magic Kingdom they headed down Main Street U.S.A and Amanda was ready to visit Captain Jack Sparrow at The Pirates of the Caribbean! Alex first wanted to stop and take a picture at Cinderella's Wishing Well. As they looked down the wishing well Amanda turned to Alex and said "I want to make a wish!" That's when Alex pulled two shiny pennies from his pocket and softly responded "I figured you would." They each closed their eyes and made a wish. Amanda wished in her mind and in her heart that Alex would propose to her at Disney World.
Hand in hand they turned to take a picture. Amanda, having no fear of strangers, walked up to a girl passing by and asked if she could take their picture. They were posing for their photo when Alex began to turn and got down on one knee. Amanda was so surprised as her eyes welled up with tears of joy. Alex asked "Will you marry me?!" Amanda was able to get out an excited "Yes" between the tears and giggles.
People gathered around, but they didn't care. Alex and Amanda were in their own magic moment as future husband and wife. As they embraced in hugs and kisses, they knew they would live happily ever after.
The End
Does this not just make your eyes tear up and your heart all giddy?!?

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO DO A DISNEY THEMED WEDDING? It was a no brainer. We both are obsessed and it fit both of our tastes. I had a vision and we went with it. I knew he would enjoy all the Disney details. Plus getting engaged at WDW, it flowed nicely into a Disney themed wedding and a Disney Honeymoon.

TELL ME WHICH VENUE YOU CHOSE, HOW YOU CHOSE IT, AND WHAT MADE IT SPECIAL? Our ceremony was at the chapel at my Alma Mater. The college is also in the town we live in so it was close. His parents also met and were married there so it had significance to us. Our reception I actually fell in love with when I was helping my sister look for a venue a few years earlier. Once I showed Alex and he met the owners he loved it too. It was beautiful, has a friendly staff, and amazing food! We loved that it was surrounded by windows and had a great view. The ambiance was romantic.

WHAT WAS YOUR WEDDING DATE? May 16, 2015

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE WEDDING? There are a lot to choose from but I think my favorite is the Cinderella carriage. We were able to take a ride in the carriage and have time with just the two of us. It was nice to enjoy those few moments together before the craziness of the night started. It was on the way to our photos, so we regrouped and were able to have a calming moment.

WHERE DID YOU COME UP WITH THE DETAILS OF YOUR WEDDING? We were lucky enough to be able to go to WDW twice before our wedding and I pay attention to all the little details that Disney is so good at including. I always look around and listen to songs and phrases in the background. That is where a lot of our music inspiration came from. All the ceremony music was instrumental Disney music from the Disney Fairytale Weddings album, Jim Brickman's Disney album, and the soundtracks from Up and Frozen. For our cake cutting I fell in love with the Disney Parks version of Be Our Guest that plays in the restaurant and found it on the Disney Parks Attraction Music album. For our cocktail hour we had found in the emporium a Disney String Quartet album and I was sold! For other details I looked on etsy, Pinterest, and just visions I had in my head that I had to find ways of creating. We pulled a lot of ideas from Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and I even threw Toy Story in. I also had hidden Mickeys anywhere I could.

DID YOU HAND MAKE ANYTHING? A lot! Our invitations, photo booth props, my mom and dad made the centerpieces, our programs, favors, table numbers, the list goes on and on. I give my parents a lot of credit. We all put in so much time and effort!

DOES YOUR HUSBAND LOVE DISNEY AS MUCH YOU DO? Absolutely! We are both fanatics! Disney is a part of our lives everyday! We bond over it. It makes us happy when we're sad. Disney is a part of us individually and together.

WHAT ARE WAYS YOU INCORPORATE DISNEY INTO YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE? I listen to a Disney podcast everyday. I run a Disney Instagram (@happiestplaceonline) to share photos, updates, and fun facts. Alex and I watch Disney movies, shorts, listen to music, or read about it every day! There are touches of Disney throughout our home. Planning Disney vacations (whether a real one or dream one) is a habit of ours. We are also Once Upon a Time fans which is fun and addicting!

ANY FUTURE DISNEY PLANS IN THE WORKS? We are heading to Disneyland in January! I have never been but Alex has been there for the 40th and 50th anniversaries. It was only appropriate for use to go for the 60th Diamond anniversary!

ANY WORDS OF ADVICE FOR OTHER FUTURE DISNEY BRIDES? If you're doing a Disney themed wedding, research options. There are ways to create your ideas! It may take time and patience but 'be prepared' (see what I did there?). If you are going on a honeymoon try to go right away so the magic of your wedding continues! Also, if you decide to do a Disney honeymoon, use a certified Disney vacation planner! No matter how much I know about Disney I can't get the discounts they can! It's free so take advantage of it! And tell people you're celebrating your honeymoon! You never know what extra pixie dust will come your way. Have fun with it! Get some bride and groom Mickey ears or just married shirts! It's your honeymoon in Disney act like a goof and have fun! Most of all...get your buttons!! It makes you feel extra special to hear "Congrats" from almost every cast member you pass.

Here are some more of their amazing wedding photos taken by Melanie from Jolie Images.

HOW FUN IS THIS PICTURE?!?

See the hidden Mickeys?

After the wedding, they had an amazing Disneymoon (Honeymoon) on board the Disney Cruise and at Walt Disney World where they got to attend both the 24 hour coolest summer ever event and Star Wars Weekend!   Here are some fun pictures of their adventures then!
